Microsoft Exam 74-674

The Value Prism Way

Preparing for and taking the 74-674 exam is much like completing a BVPS engagement - it requires a great deal of rigorous background study, the ability to quickly connect broad business and technical issues and form meaningful conclusions.

During our BVPS Consultant Skills workshops, we focus on demonstrating and developing these skills in a controlled environment. Our frameworks and methodologies will give you both the skills and confidence you need to ace the Microsoft 74-674 Delivering Business Value Planning Services Exam.

About the 74-674 Exam

The 74-674 exam tests a consultant's ability to deliver a BVPS engagement by simulating actual engagement experiences. The exam was developed using real cases from real BVPS engagements.

Test takers must demonstrate an ability to quickly analyze a large amount of data, filter unneeded information, and synthesize the information down into a set of client recommendations.

The74-674 Exam tests a candidates ability to:

  • Scope BVPS Engagements:
Identify a business process for improvement and ensure that the process fits within the BVPS framework and workshop duration
  • Analyze the Current State Business Process:
Quickly map out a business process, identify customer pain points, and convey the business impacts of the process
  • Design a Future State Business Process:
Map potential Microsoft IW solutions to process pains, prioritize solutions based on their impacts, and develop a set of feasible solutions given customer constraints
  • Develop a Solution Business Case:
Catalog the costs and benefits of the proposed solution, develop value propositions to affected stakeholders, and catalog solution adoption risks and mitigation strategies
From Elaine van Bergen:
BVPS Consultant, OBS, Australia

The Microsoft BVPS material is good for understanding the engagement steps, but is doesnt explain the sort of decisions a consultant has to make to work out what is best for the customer at each step. The exercises we did at Value Prisms BVPS training session were the closest to simulating those decisions, but not everyone will be lucky enough to manage to attend such sessions!

Our 74-674 Exam Strategy

We prepare our students to take the exam in the same way we prepare our consultants to deliver BVPS engagements:

  • We provide a thorough grounding in the BVPS knowledge domain through short lectures
  • We develop analytical reasoning skills through engagement simulations

Along the way, we discuss the frameworks and tools required to pass the 74-674 exam and to successfully deliver BVPS engagements.

About the BVPS Consultant Skills Workshop

Our BVPS Consultant Skills Workshop is a combination of short lectures and engagement simulations. The lectures delve deep into the fundamentals of business process improvement from a BVPS perspective, while the simulations give your consultants a chance to practice the skills they've acquired in controlled role-playing sessions.

Best-practices/worst-practices discussions are communicated throughout the course in the form of actual BVPS Case Studies. These quick lessons help your consultants avoid the common pitfalls of BVPS engagements while demonstrating winning approaches.
