Gridstore HyperConverged Private Cloud Solution Offers Breakthrough Density, Economics, and Price-to-Performance

By | Business Case Consulting, Whitepaper | No Comments

Private Cloud solutions market has seen new converged infrastructure offerings emerge from large technology vendors to startups, each trying to grab a piece of the fast growing multi-billion dollar market. Each of the vendors offer customizable yet proprietary compute, storage, and networking configurations, combined with their preferred systems and management software stack. This makes it difficult to compare the systems on a price-to-performance scale. Value Prism Consulting, a management consulting firm, was engaged by Gridstore, Inc. to review and contrast private cloud solution offerings from four leading converged infrastructure vendors based on publicly-available costs and specification data. On a price-to-performance scale, Gridstore’s HyperConverged Appliance was seen as the most cost-effective solution providing high performance and great value.

Dell and Nutanix deliver a Cost Effective Web-scale Hyper-converged Appliance with Microsoft Private Cloud

By | Business Case Consulting, Whitepaper | No Comments

The Dell™ XC Series is a Web-scale hyper converged appliance that enables agile, predictable, and low cost of ownership scale-out of enterprise datacenters. The pre-configured appliance integrates with a broad range of hypervisor environments, including Microsoft® Hyper-V and VMware® ESXi™. The different licensing structures and costs of these virtualization platforms make it difficult to evaluate the Dell XC appliance on a price-to-performance scale. Value Prism Consulting, a management consulting firm, was engaged by Microsoft Corporation to review and contrast the Dell XC appliances featuring private cloud solution built on Microsoft and VMware environments. In this whitepaper aimed at IT decision makers, the firm compared the two Dell XC private cloud solutions based on publicly-available bill-of-materials, costs, and specification data. The analysis shows that the Dell XC appliance with Microsoft Private Cloud is the more cost-effective option claiming lower price for equivalent performance measures.

FlexPod Datacenter with Microsoft Private Cloud Excels in Price-to-Performance Comparison

By | Business Case Consulting, Whitepaper | No Comments

The FlexPod® Datacenter is a pre-validated and flexible integrated system offering that combines NetApp and Cisco’s compute, storage, and networking technology components. While being largely consistent with hardware, the jointly developed reference architectures support a broad range of operating system, virtualization, and management software stack. The different licensing requirements and costs of these reference architectures make it difficult to compare the FlexPod systems on a price-to-performance scale. Value Prism Consulting, a management consulting firm, was engaged by Microsoft® Corporation to review and contrast the FlexPod Datacenter private cloud offerings for two of the most popular private cloud solutions – Microsoft and VMware – based on publicly-available bill-of-materials, costs, and specification data. On a price-to-performance scale, the FlexPod Datacenter with Microsoft Private Cloud was seen as the more cost-effective solution providing high performance and great value.

Consultancy Lowers TCO, Gains Efficiencies via Unified Desktop Security & Management

By | Business Case Consulting, Case Study | No Comments

With operations in 36 countries, Logica provides information technology and business consulting services to clients worldwide. The company’s operations in France support a quarter of the total employees and manage some of the largest clients in Europe. Logica had multiple security vendors, each with a discrete infrastructure, making it difficult and inefficient to protect users. The company was eager to consolidate its IT infrastructure and gain tighter control over its assets. In 2010, Logica began upgrading their desktop security solution to Microsoft® Forefront® Endpoint Protection 2010 and System Center Configuration Manager 2007 to gain greater operational efficiencies via convergence of desktop security and management. Through this upgrade, Logica expects to increase system protection, improve reporting insights, and reduce systems ownership cost; resulting in U.S.$165,000 annual savings.
